How to customize the XHP-0021 eyeglass case for a client in the UAE: Turning "near-perfect" into "truly perfect"
A high-end eyewear brand client from the UAE contacted us. They loved the XHP-0021 eyeglass case—its clean lines, eco-friendly PU leather, and smooth N45 magnetic closure. However, they felt one detail could be improved.
The front of the case features an arched plastic support, making the lid very sturdy and stylish. In contrast, the back feels somewhat "soft." For a high-end brand, every point of contact with the product must convey a solid and refined feel. This imbalance was unacceptable to them.
The client's question was simple and direct: "Can the back be made as solid as the front, without increasing thickness or weight?"
Our solution: Listen to requirements → Prototype → Fine-tune details
We first analyzed the original structure. The front's rigidity came from the arched plastic support, while the back only had PU leather and a thin inner lining. To increase rigidity without adding thickness, a thin yet rigid material was needed.
After trying several options, the engineering team (led by Mr. Chen) decided to embed an ultra-thin custom-made metal plate in the back.
Why this solution is feasible:
Thin enough: The metal sheet is only 0.3mm thick, adding almost no thickness and weight, and has no impact on the box's dimensions.
Concealed enough: The metal sheet is hidden between the PU leather and the inner velvet layer, completely invisible from the outside.
Sturdy enough: The metal sheet provides uniform hardness to the back, maintaining a consistent feel with the front.
The first sample was completed within a week. After testing, the client said, "It's almost there, but could you make the magnetic attraction stronger when the magnets close?"
We adjusted the magnet's position and attraction to ensure a strong enough attraction when closed without affecting the feel due to the metal sheet.
After the second sample, the client approved. The final eyeglass case has a consistent feel on both the front and back, is sturdy and well-proportioned, and feels like a high-end product.
